A couple like Henry and Lucy is every wedding planner’s dream client – while still spending plenty of time creating the decoration and style for the event, our brief was always for their guests to enjoy themselves! With Lucy’s timeless style and design background and Henry’s quirky ideas and surprises, they were the perfect match to create an unforgettable wedding.
The festivities started off with a low-key rehearsal dinner at local restaurant La Paloma, in the centre of the island. Here they brought their closest friends and family together to enjoy a typical Ibiza dinner with cocktails and champagne flowing.
For the second day, we suggested to take over a small and secluded beach in the north of the island, with dinner and dancing. Inspired by the surroundings of one of Ibiza’s best-kept secrets they chose an ‘under-the-sea’ theme. We used a vibrant and tropical floral table runner on the long low wooden tables to replicate a coral reef. With free seating, guests were encouraged to intermingle with new acquaintances to enjoy a family style dinner, on blankets and cushions in a turquoise, green and blue colour scheme. It was the perfect dinner setting to bring the wedding party together. Using a high-power projector, we created the illusion of water ripples on the side of the rocks, to give the impression of being in an underwater cave. Henry, as a surprise (!) arranged Brazilian drummers to join the party after dinner to get everybody up and dancing.
Always the couple to keep their wedding party guessing, the wedding day followed at a completely different setting, a private villa in San Miguel. 120 guests gathered at this romantic country villa for the ceremony, dinner and dancing. All of the decoration followed a very boho-style theme, with wild flowers and beautiful fabrics. My personal favourite feature of the wedding was the almond tree marking the ceremony spot, which we covered in white delphinium, creating the effect of a blossoming almond tree.
One of the couple’s closest friends played ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis Presley on acoustic guitar as Lucy walked down the aisle. A timeless song for a timeless moment.
We like flow to our events, and so after the ceremony and reception the guests moved up to the second area for the dinner where colourful flowers and beautiful Ibizencan tiles in shades of blue sat on round linen clothed tables. Henry’s speech included a rendition of Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ played on acoustic guitar dedicated to his Lucy.
After a delicious 3 course meal, we revealed yet another area to the guests, a surprise Margarita bar (a personal cocktail favourite of the brides), and a Mexican themed chill out both underneath a dazzling mirror ball ceiling. At midnight, fire dancers performed just outside of the nightclub entrance, leading everybody inside for the real party. Henry – being a huge Star Wars fan, wanted to deck out the dance floor Star Wars style – and we very much obliged transforming the villas inside spa into their very own Ibiza super club! True to the Stars Wars theme the Imperial March played as guests entered, walking past a custom made Darth Vader mirror ball (Lucy’s turn to surprise her husband), suspended above a fountain, into the nightclub where real life sized storm troopers and R2D2 awaited their arrival. With lasers and CO2 machines, the guests and their hosts enjoyed a long night of Ibiza style partying till the early hours of the morning.
In true Ibiza form they did not stop the celebrations there. Day three took place at the popular Blue Marlin Ibiza, a beach club in the south of the island. Ditching their elegant wedding attire from the previous day guests were able to bring their colourful side out with the 70’s pool party fancy dress theme. Recovering their hangovers on the big day beds on the beach, sipping rosé and Bloody Mary’s, they danced on through to the famous Ibiza sunset. Our 3 day extravaganza encompassed the best of Ibiza, from the quiet north to the very popular south.
