Behind every good restaurant there is a lot of high quality food, passion and love. This couldn’t be more true in case of Cicale, a magical restaurant housed in a 200-year old finca tucked away in San Lorenzo’s countryside. Our last interview in our International Women’s Week series features co-owner and Italian native, Michela Primavera, who is here to talk about her passion, women that inspire her and life changing decisions.

What originally brought you to Ibiza?

My first visit to Ibiza was during  a sailing boat trip in 2002. I was thinking that if I didn’t like the vibe I could easily sail away…but of course like many others I fell in love with it.

Was it a conscious business decision to start your enterprise on the island?

I was working in London in the fashion business for many years. Perviously, I was running a production company there but I felt very tired of the hectic, urban life. One day I have decided to make a change and moved to Ibiza.

Can you tell us a little bit more on how your company began?

A really good friend of mine offered me the opportunity to run a beautiful beach restaurant with him for the summer season. I loved it so much that the year after I was looking for my own perfect spot that became Cicale in 2006.

What was your dream job as a kid? 

I dreamed of becoming an interpreter.

What woman inspires you and why?

Frida Khalo, she is such a powerful woman.

What do you think are the most important qualities of a female leader?

Strength, respect and enthusiasm.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

The sincere satisfaction of my guests.

What advice would you give to young women planning to start their own business?

To have passion and determination. Do not be afraid to risk it all if you really want to do something because anything is possible.

What is your secret to success?

I absolutely love what I do.

What is your personal favourite spot on the island where you spend time when not working?

I like Pou des lleo in San Carlos because it is so chilled even in August. I love taking my dog for long walks there after a refreshing swim.
