As you may already be aware, conservationists in Ibiza are celebrating their recent victory against the Scottish oil company Cairn, who had plans to search for oil just a mere 30 miles from our beautiful coast.

After what has been a 4 year long battle, amidst fears that such a project would harm not only the bustling tourism industry, but also more importantly the plethora of biodiversity we house here on the island, Cairn have decided to abandon their plans.

Yippee!

We think that this is a really positive step forward in keeping Ibiza as green as possible, something hugely important to us here at Deliciously Sorted, especially as our very own Serena Cook is a co-founder of the wonderful Ibiza Preservation fund.

Following this success, we thought it would be a fantastic idea to share with you our top tips for making your holiday as environmentally friendly as possible.

Why not see how many you can take on board for your next trip with us here in Ibiza?

1. ‘Take only pictures, Leave only footprints’

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Make sure you don’t leave any litter, and refrain from taking anything with you from the natural surroundings. If you follow us on social media you will know just how much we adore Ibiza’s beaches, and we would really like them to stay as the Instagram worthy paradises they are!

Every little helps! Simply by reusing your towels, bringing your own toiletries and remembering to turn the lights out when you leave will make your stay that little bit greener. Hotels use up an astonishing amount of water on laundry, and their linen re-use schemes have been proven to make substantial yearly energy savings.

By choosing local cuisine you contribute towards stopping the amount of pollution caused by food transportation. Plus, the food cultivated here on the island is absolutely delicious – trust us! Why not book one of our fabulous chefs to cook you up some local treats in the comfort of your own villa?

Save the trees by referring to the PDF versions of maps and guides. Alternatively download our fancy new Deliciously Sorted App! All the information and contacts you will need to make your holiday hassle free, plus its eco friendly!

app-final5. Ditch the car

Ibiza has some breathtaking views, which are sometimes (in our humble opinion) better experienced with the wind in your hair or the ground beneath your feet. Swap short car journeys for walking, take a bike ride to your favourite beach spot, or even make use of the public transport we have available on the island.
